ENGIE at RE-Source 2017

- 06 October 2017

On October 10 and 11, Brussels played host to RE-Source 2017. The event brings together the members of RE100, all of which are major multinationals committed to promoting and developing renewable energies. It was an opportunity for ENGIE, the event’s headline sponsor, to support companies with their energy transition and showcase its expertise in the field.

Over 100 companies dedicated to going 100% renewable

RE100 is a global initiative that was launched by 13 major companies at the United Nations Climate Summit in New York in 2014. It aims to engage, support and promote companies that have committed to switching to 100% renewable electricity. Today, the alliance is made up of 111 major groups from throughout the world, including India and China. “We are increasingly seeing large multinationals demonstrating real leadership on renewables because it makes business sense. We are now calling on companies to go one step further, and inspire their suppliers and peers to follow their lead so that together, we can speed the transition from fossil fuels to renewables,” explained Helen Clarkson, CEO of The Climate Group, which is responsible for steering RE100. ENGIE has taken this message to heart and was supporting its customers at RE-Source 2017.

Two days to discuss, learn about and promote RES

The two-day event brought almost 500 decision-makers representing multinationals and renewable energy suppliers to Brussels to talk about the latest climate change and technological developments. It was also a chance to forge partnerships with a view to spurring rapid growth in the number of green electricity supply solutions. The event programme includes case studies, sessions spotlighting business opportunities for companies of all sizes, and recommendations and best practices. ENGIE, RE-Source’s headline sponsor, was actively involved: Edouard Neviaski, CEO of ENGIE Global Energy Management, and Philippe Van Troeye, CEO of ENGIE BU BeNeLux, both feature among the speakers at this first edition of the event.
